Sacramento365 is spilling the “tee” on the 2021 Sacramento City Golf Championship which takes place at Haggin Oaks, June 5 and 6, at the Alister MacKenzie Golf Course. The par-72, 7,030-yard layout course will be home for the 2-day, 36-hole stroke play event. Although canceled last year, this year marks the 100th anniversary, and organizers are determined to give it the justice it deserves.

Speaking of players, this event is open to all male amateur golfers with a current World Handicap System Index of 5.0 or less. Tournament organizers are anticipating a large number of college players who are nearing the end of their school year and who have found it difficult to participate in tournaments due to the pandemic.

The competition amongst the players will be fierce as they vie to win first place and have their name etched on one of the most coveted trophies for a top amateur event in all of Northern California. The winner will have their name engraved on the trophy next to other golf greats like Bob E. Smith, Bob Eastwood, Mark Wiebe, Spencer Levin, Matt Bettencourt, and Bob Niger, all of whom have turned professional in the game.

As cool as that sounds, the winner will also leave with their very own crystal trophy as well as bragging rights to commemorate their participation in the event.

Spectators are encouraged to enjoy the competition and watch all the action at no charge. Not only will they have great views of tee shots, approach shots, and short game around the greens, they can also rent a golf cart and follow the players from hole to hole. Just like any athlete, golfers enjoy being able to show off their skills to family, friends, and golf lovers alike. And one thing is for sure, that golf cart sounds fun to drive!
