Adele Louise Shaw

Adele Louise Shaw was first inspired by her grandmother’s oil paints when she was six years old. She’s maintained a burning determination to engage the creative spirit ever since. She received her B.F.A. from the Maryland Institute, College of Art in 1989, and has furthered her studies in Italy, New York, Vermont, California, Mexico, Thailand, and Japan.

Adele’s work is influenced by her spiritual practices, music, natural materials, and the powers of nature. Her work fuses her interests in contemporary art, impressionism and action painting. She has been working with encaustics since 1998 and leading encaustic workshops since 2001. She’s a self-taught teacher and leads a variety of classes and workshops from bookbinding to geometric drawing, and has taught hundreds of people about encaustic painting over the past nineteen years.

Adele’s artwork has been exhibited extensively throughout the United States and can be found in numerous private and public collections.
