Through paintings and ceramics, this show focuses on shelters, abodes, and the places people call home.
“Home is a shelter from storms-all sorts of storms.”-William J Bennett
A Place Called Home highlights the work of four local artists:
-David Peterson (water color) has paintings in private collections across the country. Since 2002, the artist has been accepted into dozens of state-wide juried shows and has won over 100 awards.
-Michelle Andres (oils) is a contemporary American oil painter and writer who draws from nature to celebrate joy and hopefulness in our often challenging world. Her landscapes examine the intimate relationship between the natural elements of our rivers, rural expanses, solitary buildings, and parklands.
-Mathew Glaisyer (ceramics) works from his subconscious. He allows the clay to dictate what he does to the sculptures he creates. The work he does is rough, unfinished looking. It is a “raw” esthetic. It is non-representational. The work is a way to relieve the negativity in his day-to-day life. It is a type of meditation for him.
-Dana Archibald (ceramics) loves experimenting with different types of clay, glaze, and technique. She began creating tiny houses to surprise her children with a Christmas village and hasn’t stopped making them since. Her never-ending quest to learn new techniques and tackle new challenges allows her to explore all the fantastical corners of her imagination.
You can meet the artists and enjoy food, drinks, and live music. A Place Called Home runs throughout August
